Scope and Content Note
The C-MAP Collection contains records dealing with programs instituted at Carnegie Institute of Technology, and later, Carnegie-Mellon University, to aid economically and educationally disadvantaged students in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This collection includes research reports that evaluate the progress of the programs from their inception at the University. In addition, the collection includes extensive financial records that incorporate grant and funding applications from various corporate and government institutions.
This collection contains information on the participants of the programs including administrators, faculty, staff, and students. There are several documents published by and for the participants in these programs, many of which were used to recruit and inform prospective students. There are also many newspaper clippings, which have been photocopied for preservation purposes.
Additionally, this collection includes 71 photograph albums that were created and maintained by C-MAP. The albums include photographs of carnival, commencement, SPIRIT Fashion Shows, awards banquets, receptions, summer program, Hoopla Basketball games, and many other events and activities sponsored by C-MAP between 1984-2005. The collection also includes a handfull of 35mm negatives and images on CD-Rs.
The Collection was organized into 18 series that were arranged alphbetically.

Overview
This series contains posters published by C-MAP to inform prospective students of the summer programs at Carnegie-Mellon University intended to aid the economically and educationally disadvantaged. Receipts from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for funding of pilot programs are included in the series, as well as a restricted file that contains recommendations, curriculum vitae, and biographical sketches of program administrators.This series includes rosters and schedules from the SCOPP, Upward Bound, Carnegie-Mellon Prep., C-MAP and Act 101 programs. This series also contains a transcript of the "Today Show" from June 12, 1978. It is a broadcast excerpt with hosts Tom Brokaw and Jessica Savage interviewing the Deans of Princeton and Cornell and an educationally disadvantaged student about opportunities for minorities entering college. Information regarding the Western Pennsylvania Veterans Educational Service Center or "Veterans Upward Bound" is included in the series. Some of the C-MAP administrators served on the Advisory Committee of this Carnegie-Mellon program while it existed between the years 1972-1975.
