Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

This series contains grant proposals, meeting minutes, and documentation related to both faculty and student committees within the English department. Materials related to the Carnegie Plan are included in this series as well in the form of the Carnegie Tech Education Papers. The Carnegie Plan was an initiative to provide engineers with a broader skill set by requiring students to take general humanities and social science courses in their technical curriculum. The Carnegie Tech Education Papers were publications authored by University faculty which described the nature and implementation of the plan. This series also includes the Student and Faculty Files subseries which contain mostly correspondence between Steinberg, various members of the English department, and graduate students.
