Scope and Contents
The lecture series was established in honor of Benjamin Fairless who was the President of United States Steel for 15 years and Chairmen of the Board from 1952-1955. He was on the Carnegie Institute of Technology Board of Trustees from 1952-1962. The Fairless Lecture is given by an internationally renowned educator or executive on topics dealing with business, public administration, the relationship between government and business or management and labor, preserving economic freedom, human liberty, or strong individual enterprise. For some years, original transcripts or introductory information is available. There was no lecture given in 1970. For information about the planning of the lectures, see the Cyert Papers series.
