 File — Box: 3, Folder: 103

Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series:

This sub-series is located in Boxes 2 and 3 and is 2 linear feet in length. The bulk of the sub-series deals with National Science Foundation grants and contracts with the Air Force, Office of Scientific Research, Air Research & Development Command; the Department of the Army, Ordnance Corp (Watertown Arsenal); the Atomic Energy Commission; and the Department of Energy. All of these contracts revolve around neutron diffraction research conducted at the MIT Reactor or at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

An extremely interesting file of correspondence between Clifford Shull and John Slater sheds light on MIT’s recruitment of Professor Shull from Oak Ridge.

Access to any folders containing salary action, personnel action, or injury reports has been restricted.
