Scope and Contents
The PRODUCTION series contains photographs from productions produced by the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. The series has been arranged chronologically by academic year, and alphabetically by production title thereunder. Undated productions have been arranged in alphabetical order at the end of the series. The majority of productions represented in the collectino were part of the main produciton series. The photographs for many early productions were kept in large chronological albums by the department.
The series also includes the following sub-series: Graduate Program, Showcase of New Plays, Productions by Other CMU Companies, Productions by Non-CMU Comapnties, and Unidentified Productions.
The Graduate Program sub-series includes photographs of plays staged by MFA candidates. This sub-series includes only a small number of productions, though many graduate program productions can be found in the main part of the series.
The Showcase of New Plays subseries includes production photographs from the Showcase of New Plays (sometimes referred to as Summer New Plays and Summer New Plays Project). The Showcase of New Plays cast both professional actors and students from the School of Drama in productions of new plays. The subseries has also been arranged chronologically by year, and alphabetically thereunder.
The Productions by Other CMU Companies series includes photographs from productions staged by the Carnegie Mellon Repertory Theatre, the Carnegie Mellon Theatre Company, and the Park Players. It is likely that other productions staged by these groups can be found elsewhere in the collection.
The Productions by Non-CMU Companies contains photographs of productions that feature some affiliation to Carnegie Mellon, but were not produced by the School of Drama.
The Unidentified Productions subseries contains photographs of productions that have not been identified. The subseries has been arranged in rough chronological order when date information has been available. The later section of the subseries is completely unarranged.
