School of Drama Prompt Books
Scope and Contents
The School of Drama Prompt Books collection contains prompt books created for main stage, studio, and MFA productions staged by the School of Drama.
The vast majority of the prompt books were created as thesis projects at both the bachelors and masters level and also include essays, set and costume designs, programs, photographs, and other information related to the productions.
Most prompt books for main stage productions were created as final projects by undergraduate students, while most prompt books for studio productions were created by MFA directing candidates.

Requests to view this collection must be made 3 business days before your proposed visit to allow staff sufficent time to retrive the collection from an off-site storage facility.

Arrangement
The collection has been re-arranged intellectually, but due to its size, has not been re-arranged physically.
The majority collection is arranged alphabetically by playwright's last name. The thesis series has been arranged alphabetically by the last name of the author. Authors and playwrights are listed with their last name first, while directors names are in direct order.
The order of authors names has generally been taken from the prompt book and may vary from the commonly accepted order. Spellings also reflect those used in the prompt book and may vary from the currently accepted spelling.
Immediate Source of Aquisition
This collection was originally maintined by the Carnegie Mellon University Library, before being transferred to the University Archive at an unknown date.
