The automation projects series is housed in seven boxes. The sub-series (projects) are arranged in a loose chronological order. This series contains correspondence, reports, publications, and contracts. There are nine subseries: General, ILS (Integrated Library System), LS2000, Mercury/LIS, Andrew, TULIP, UMI Virtual Library, Helios, and Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

The subsequent subseries are subject files from each Library Director. Most of these subject files have been kept in the original organization of the Director.
